MidcoastFood.ME Terms of Service

... yeah we know. But we did try to make them as painless as possible.

Last Updated: October 29, 2025

Welcome to MidcoastFood.ME, a community project helping people across Maine find food resources, community fridges, farms, and mutual-aid programs.

By using this website, you agree to the following terms — written simply, in plain language.

1. Purpose of the Site

MidcoastFood.ME exists to make it easier for people to find, share, and support food resources in the Midcoast region of Maine and beyond.

All listings, maps, and resources are provided for public good and informational purposes only.

We are not a government agency, nonprofit, or business — we’re a community-built directory operated by volunteers.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using MidcoastFood.ME, you agree to follow these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

We may update these terms occasionally to reflect new features or community feedback.

When we do, we’ll update the “Last Updated” date above. Continued use means you accept those changes.

3. Use of Information

You are welcome to:

  • Use this site to find food resources or mutual-aid programs
  • Share listings with others who may need them
  • Submit new or updated resource information

However, you may not:

  • Use data from this site for commercial resale or marketing
  • Misrepresent yourself as an official partner or representative
  • Scrape, harvest, or republish the data without permission
  • Post false or harmful information

We reserve the right to remove submissions that violate these principles or cause harm to community trust.

4. Accuracy of Listings

We strive to keep every listing as accurate and current as possible.

However, MidcoastFood.ME cannot guarantee that all information is up-to-date, as hours, addresses, and eligibility requirements may change frequently.

When in doubt, please contact the organization directly using the information provided.

If you notice incorrect or outdated information, you can report it using the site’s “Submit a Correction” form.

5. User Submissions

If you contribute resource listings, corrections, or other content:

  • You confirm that the information you submit is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
  • You grant MidcoastFood.ME permission to display, edit, and share your submission as part of the public directory.
  • You agree not to post content that is false, defamatory, discriminatory, or violates any law.

We review all submissions to maintain accuracy, tone, and respect for the people and organizations represented.

6. No Warranty

MidcoastFood.ME is provided “as is” and “as available.”

We make no guarantees that:

  • The site will always be available without interruption, or
  • Every piece of information is fully accurate or complete.

We’re a volunteer project doing our best — but we can’t be liable for any issues arising from reliance on the information provided.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law:

MidcoastFood.ME, its maintainers, contributors, or affiliated volunteers are not responsible for any losses or damages resulting from use of this site, including reliance on listings, errors, or downtime.

This project is meant to support, not replace, direct contact with local food programs.

8. Links to Other Websites

MidcoastFood.ME links to many external programs, organizations, and community resources.

We do not control or take responsibility for the content or privacy practices of those websites.

9. Community Guidelines

We believe access to food is a right, not a privilege.

All users and contributors are expected to:

  • Act respectfully toward others
  • Avoid discrimination or harassment
  • Support the goal of helping people access food with dignity and without stigma

Any use that undermines that mission may result in removal of submitted content or blocked access.
